KANSAS, July 14, 2023 – Freight Investor Services (FIS) is proud to announce a significant milestone in the derivatives trading space, the first ever Brazil Urea options trade. This development builds on our previous success in the Over the Counter (OTC) options market for NOLA UREA, which includes introducing fertilizer options in October 2022.

The Brazil Urea trade, facilitated by FIS brokers Barnie Talbot-Ponsonby and Taylor Eastman CFA, consisted of a $335 PUT option for SEPT 2023 at $3.50/tonne, with a volume of 5,000 MT. It marked the first options trade outside of the NOLA UREA market. Head of Fertilizer Taylor Eastman notes “The demand for options in this market has been growing among clients, driven by their asymmetric risk payoff and popularity among market participants.”

As a leading broker in freight and commodity markets, FIS remains committed to delivering tailored solutions to meet the diverse needs of its global client base. This ground-breaking trade enhances our product suite of risk management tools and underscores FIS’ position as an industry pioneer and its dedication to driving innovation across various markets.
